South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) have reported that North Korea recently launched at least one ballistic missile into the waters off the eastern coast of the Korean peninsula.
According to information from the Ministry of Defense, Japan’s Coast Guard confirmed the launch of a projectile, believed to be a ballistic missile, by North Korea. The missile covered approximately 1,000 kilometres (621 miles) before descending into the sea.
The JCS indicated that the missile, presumed to be of intermediate range, was launched from the Pyongyang area around 2:55 p.m. local time on Sunday.
To analyse the missile’s specifics, collaborative efforts are underway among the South Korean, US, and Japanese militaries. The JCS underscored that South Korea’s military is on high alert, maintaining a “full readiness posture.” They are actively sharing information with the US and Japan regarding North Korea’s missile activities.
